Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Ride with Leo app (“Ride with Leo,” “Leo,” the “app”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Ride with Leo is built by Polymathers, LLC (“Polymathers,” “we,” “us”).
The short version: we collect what we need to record your sessions and show you your riding analytics. We don’t sell your data, we don’t run ads, and the app contains no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking software.
Information we collect
Account information
- Your email address, first and last name, and a password — which we store only as a salted hash, never in plain text.
- Optional profile details you choose to add: a display name, home time zone, and riding stance.
- If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a unique identifier and the email address from that provider.
Location
- While you are actively recording a session, the app collects precise GPS location (latitude, longitude, and altitude) to map your runs and compute analytics such as vertical drop and lift detection.
- Location is collected only during an active recording — including while the app is in the background during that session — and stops when the session ends. We don’t track your location when you’re not recording.
Motion and sensor data
- Ride with Leo records motion data (acceleration, rotation, and related readings) streamed over Bluetooth from the sensors you wear, together with the session recordings produced from them.
- From this data we derive riding analytics — runs, turns, airs, falls, and summary statistics — which are linked to your account.
Equipment and preferences
- Details you enter about your gear (boards, bindings, sensor devices, stance and mounting setup).
- Your app preferences (units, default sharing visibility, and an optional, self-reported skill profile).
Device and technical information
- Basic technical information needed to operate the service, such as app version and the platform you’re on.
- If you enable notifications, a push token from Apple or Google so we can tell you when your session has finished processing.
- If you enable biometric sign-in, a device-bound security token stored in your device’s secure hardware (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain). It contains no personal information.
We don’t use advertising identifiers, and the app does not access your contacts, photos, messages, calendar, or microphone.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To record your sessions and to compute and display your riding analytics.
- To sync your data across your devices and, if enabled, notify you when processing is complete.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the app and protect against abuse.
We compute analytics on our own servers, so our systems can access your recordings to produce your results. We don’t use your data for advertising.
How we share your information
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with advertising networks, data brokers, or third-party analytics or tracking tools — the app contains none.
People you choose to share with
- Coaching: if you accept a coaching connection, the coach you connect with gets permissioned access to the sessions and analytics covered by that connection. You can manage and remove these connections.
- Shared links: if you create a public or unlisted share for a run or session, anyone with the link can see that activity’s analytics and route, labeled with your display name only (never your email). You can revoke a share at any time.
Service providers
- We host the service on Google Cloud (database, file storage, and compute). Your data is stored there on our behalf, as our infrastructure provider.
- Notifications are delivered through Apple Push Notification service and Google’s Firebase Cloud Messaging, which process the push token needed to reach your device.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and our service.
Data retention and deletion
- We keep your information for as long as your account is active.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account in the app. Deleting your account signs you out on all devices, removes your personal information (email, name, password) and your raw recordings, and revokes any active share links. See Delete your account & data for step-by-step instructions, including how to request deletion if you can’t sign in.
- Some analytics may be retained in de-identified form (with no personal information) for product and research purposes; that data can’t be tied back to you.
- For 30 days after deletion we keep a one-way (hashed) record of the email address to prevent immediate reuse and identity confusion.
To request access to your information, contact us at the address below.
Security
- All data sent between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.
- Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.
- Biometric sign-in tokens are kept in your device’s secure hardware.
No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard measures.
Your choices
- You control location access through your device’s permission settings; the app requests it only when you start recording.
- Including your data in research datasets is off by default and can be changed in settings.
- You can edit your profile and preferences, manage sharing and coaching connections, and delete your account at any time.
Children
Ride with Leo isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Where your data is processed
Polymathers is based in the United States, and your information is processed and stored on Google Cloud infrastructure in the United States. If you use the app from outside the U.S., you consent to processing there.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the effective date above and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice.
